Gaby’s Story: Walking Forward Together

For Gaby, complications from diabetes led to the loss of a limb, dramatically changing her daily life and independence.

Her recovery continued beyond the clinic. Through home-based physical therapy provided by Joana, Gaby learned to use her new prosthesis safely and confidently as she adapted to everyday life.

Her care was made possible through a collaborative partnership between ARSOBO, the University of Arizona, Avanza Fisioterapia, Fundación Tichi Muñoz A.C., and Hanger Clinic—bringing together expertise, compassion, and community support to help restore mobility and independence.

When she came to ARSOBO, she began the journey toward walking again. During her second visit, she was fitted with a custom prosthetic limb, marking an important milestone in her rehabilitation. With each step, she regained not only mobility but also confidence in what was possible.

Gaby's journey was made possible through the support of an entire community. In just 10 days, residents of her hometown, Magdalena, Sonora, came together to raise $15,000 to help fund her care and rehabilitation.
