We celebrates diversity and inclusion, with equity as a goal.

ARSOBO operates under three principles

Employment

Hires and trains individuals with disabilities to construct the medical device they use.

Affordability

We serve low-income families and ask them to pay only what they can afford.

Sustainability

Work toward a sustainable ‘social business’.

Individuals with disabilities are hired and trained to construct the medical device they use.

  • 9 of 12 ARSOBO’s employees have a disability

  • Wheelchair dependent expert craftsmen construct an all-terrain wheelchair, the RoughRider

  • Skilled techniques with a prosthetic leg fabricate prosthetics/orthotics

  • Hearing-impaired individuals assist with a hearing health program

Many recipients have now achieved equity: re-entered society and returned to school or work.

ARSOBO is creating lasting social benefits beyond providing medical devices

Benefits That Matter.

The benefit of the project has created an avenue for individuals with disabilities to purchase assistive devices at a price they can afford and have access to increased employment opportunities.

Due to its continuing efforts for providing low-cost medical devices for people with disabilities, ARSOBO was named the 2012 recipient of the Andy Nichols Award for Social Justice. The award is given by the Arizona-Mexico Commission for persistent service in pursuit of social justice.

Creating opportunities.
Changing lives.
